Lighting Workshop
November 18, 2006
Oregon
Straw Hat Players will host a Basic Theatrical Lighting Workshop on
Saturday, November 18, 9 am-4 pm in the Oregon School District
Performing Arts Center. The workshop will benefit not only the
participants, but those who might become interested in lighting in the
future, as there will be a video produced for future reference and for
cablecast on the WOW Public Access channel.
Karla Weber, who was the associate lighting designer for OSHP's Narnia,
will lead the workshop. Karla is one of the busiest lighting artists in
area community theatre, having assisted on such projects as Sunday in the Park With George, A Little Night Music, and currently Richard III with Strollers Theatre.
The workshop will cover the types of lighting instruments and their
characteristics and uses, hanging, cabling, focusing techniques, use of
the PAC's winch-driven lighting pipes, and an introduction to the use
of computerized lighting control boards. It's intended to provide the
basic information someone would need to feel comfortable in assisting
with the lighting of a show.
Financial support for this workshop has been generously provided by a grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation.
Due to the emphasis on producing the video, participation will be
limited to a fairly small group. If you are interested in attending,
